Situating dance within this nontraditional performance space, this project asks us to consider the relationship between different parts of campus and culture: the arts and athletics, the physical spaces these communities of practice occupy, and how bodies move across and between them. This dance also pursues questions that have driven Morris’ choreographic research for several years, including: How do we go from where we are to where we will be, and how do we go there together? What does it mean for a body to belong? What is the measure of “enough”?
Performed by Chelsea Melitta Chen (‘17, Education Major and Dance Minor), Jenn Fajardo (‘18, Anthropology/Sociology and Education Major), Honore Lachenauer (‘17, Psychology Major and Studio Art Minor), Sarah Lopez (‘17, Psychology Major, Queer Studies Concentration), Lashonda Love (‘18, Music Performance Major), Madeline Montgomery (‘17, English-Literature Major, Philosophy Minor), Garrett Stockdale (‘17, Psychology Major), Alex Rivera (‘18, Dance, Philosophy, and Economics Major), Yow Yong Tan (‘18, Biochemistry Major, Computer Science Minor), Handi Wang (‘18, Health, Exercise, and Sport Studies Major, Theater Minor), and Taylor Zick (‘17, Women’s and Gender Studies Major), this dance provides an opportunity for working together across disciplinary backgrounds and interpersonal differences.
