You Can Be Plural and Maybe You Might
This solo premiered as part of an event called LOVE, MAGIC, produced by Eve Hermann at Feverhead in Columbus, Ohio, on February 13, 2015.
Blending elements from both burlesque and contemporary dance idioms, this piece dances at the edge of sentimentality and lyricism then dissolves the separation between performer and spectator by including audience members in the final movement of the piece. Whereas the piece begins as a solo body moving through various states of undress, the piece concludes with a subtle suggestion of polyamory: what if a body can distribute their needs across multiple others, redressing themselves with clothes sourced from multiple intimate exchanges?
Special thanks to Nicole Garlando, Jason Crase, and Noah Demland for their participation.
Music: "Say You Love Me" by Jessie Ware
